3D Scholars

3D Scholars aims to make college education affordable for Prince George's County high school students.

Prince George's County Public Schools, Prince George's Community College, and University of Maryland Global Campus are offering an affordable, definitive pathway to a bachelor’s degree for students in Prince George’s County, beginning with dual enrollment in high school.

Through the county's specialized 3D Scholars Program, Prince George's County public high school students can earn a bachelor's degree at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ for a total cost of less than $10,000.

Eligibility

To apply for the 3D Scholars program, you must:

  1. Be a rising 9th grade student at a Prince George's County public high school
  2. Have a 3.0 GPA using the Specialty Programs GPA calculation
  3. Complete and submit the application form by the application deadline, including the 500-word essay and two letters of recommendation from a teacher (Social Studies, Science, English, or Math) 
  4. Be interested in completing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or Cybersecurity Technology through the completion of courses at PGCPS, PGCC, and Íøºì±¬ÁÏ.

This program accepts 50 students per year.

Please note: Qualifying applicants will be screened by the strength of the application packet and final selections will be made via PGCPS's lottery process.

About the Program

If you are accepted into the 3D Scholars program, you’ll begin taking courses at PGCC while still in high school, earning credits toward an associate degree. After you graduate from high school, you will immediately transition to PGCC to complete your associate degree. Upon completion, you’ll be awarded a scholarship to Íøºì±¬ÁÏ to earn your bachelor's degree for a total cost of less than $10,000.

At Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, you can select one of three bachelor's degrees:

An advisor at each institution will work with you to provide individual guidance through the program to ensure a seamless transition from high school to PGCC, and from PGCC to Íøºì±¬ÁÏ.
