Students must be enrolled in a Prince George’s County public high school to participate in the 3D Scholars program.
When a student transitions to PGCC, if they are eligible for a Pell Grant, all tuition, fees, and textbooks will be covered by the Pell Grant. Students not eligible for a Pell Grant will receive the Prince George's Promise Scholarship to cover the remaining tuition and fees. Please note that the Promise Scholarship may not cover some semesters. If a 3D Scholar student wants to take classes during a non-scholarship semester, they are responsible for fees, books, and tuition, which will be discounted by 50 percent.
To benefit from the PG3D Scholarship at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, all Scholars must complete their FAFSA (or the MHEC OneApp for students who are ineligible to complete the FAFSA) prior to March 1st each year.Â
When a student transitions to Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, any federal and/or state grants they qualify for will be applied first to the tuition and fees charges first. If a balance remains after those grants are applied, the Íøºì±¬ÁÏ PG3D Scholarship will cover the remaining tuition and fees, —up to 60 attempted credits at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ or until the student completes all coursework required for their first bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
For students who do not qualify for any federal or state grants, the Íøºì±¬ÁÏ PG3D Scholarship will be applied directly to cover tuition and fees—up to 60 attempted credits at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ or until the student completes all coursework required for a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
Students are responsible for covering the cost of any required books and/or course materials not provided electronically, as well as any tuition and fees beyond 60 attempted credits at Íøºì±¬ÁÏ.
To continue receiving financial benefits through the 3D Scholars Program, students must maintain all eligibility criteria each term. Additionally, the Íøºì±¬ÁÏ application fee and diploma fee are waived for 3D Scholars students.
Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) provides transportation for all 3D Scholars students to and from Charles Herbert Flowers High School. Additionally, PGCPS offers limited transportation from Charles Herbert Flowers High School to Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and back, Monday through Thursday.
Students are required to follow the attendance policies of the college they are attending. For example, while enrolled in PGCC, students must adhere to the PGCC academic calendar, even if they dually enrolled in PGCPS. Students are responsible for making up any college coursework missed due to inclement weather or schedule changes at their high school.
Students must follow the PGCPS academic calendar for their high school courses and the appropriate college academic calendars for their courses at PGCC and Íøºì±¬ÁÏ.
Only dual credit courses count toward high school graduation requirements. These courses come from a limited, preapproved list, and the grades are weighted on a 5.0 scale on the high school transcript. The approved dual credit courses have been specifically selected because they fulfill requirements at all three institutions—high school, PGCC, and Íøºì±¬ÁÏ.
The 3D Scholars Program is a unique initiative within PGCPS that offers a clear, direct path from high school to a bachelor’s degree. Students receive high touch advising at each institution, ensuring individualized guidance and support throughout the program. This approach promotes a smooth transition from high school to PGCC and from PGCC to Íøºì±¬ÁÏ.
Students must apply to PGCC and Íøºì±¬ÁÏ at the appropriate times and meet the minimum requirements to remain in the 3D Scholars Program. The application fee will be waived at both institutions.
