Purpose
The purpose of this Policy is to promote a safe and healthy learning environment for all University of Maryland Global Campus (Íøºì±¬ÁÏ) students by supporting immunization practices recommended by the American College Health Association (ACHA). This Policy acknowledges the importance of vaccinations in reducing the spread of infectious diseases and aligns Íøºì±¬ÁÏ with public health best practices. However, recognizing the unique structure of Íøºì±¬ÁÏ’s online, hybrid, and in-person programs, this Policy also clarifies that proof of vaccination is not required for enrollment or attendance in these course formats.
Policy
Íøºì±¬ÁÏ supports the ACHA's recommendation that students born after 1956 be immunized against measles, rubella, mumps, and tetanus/diphtheria. Although students are encouraged to keep vaccinations current, Íøºì±¬ÁÏ does not require proof of immunization to enroll in or attend online, hybrid, or in-person courses.
Local, State, and Site-Specific Requirements
All Íøºì±¬ÁÏ students participating in hybrid classes that combine on-site and online instruction, and face-to-face classes are expected to comply with any local, state, or site-specific public health requirements. This may include adherence to mandates such as mask-wearing, social distancing, temperature screenings, immunizations, and health attestations as applicable to their physical learning location.
